Hyatt is scheduled for surgery to install the tracheal and peg tubes at 4:00 this afternoon. I will let you know how it goes. Please keep her in your prayers.
There is news from the MRI, but it is unclear what it means at this time. The MRI showed bilateral damage to the thalamus region of the brain. This is an area of the lower brain which acts as a translator for sensory inputs to the cerebral cortex. Here is a link to Wikipedia for more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thalamus
The other areas of the brain appeared in the MRI to be undamaged. The Neurologist could not tell us what this means yet. The only conclusive test at their disposal is time. Much of this goes over my head so I apologize that I cannot explain it better. Please feel free to ask questions in the comments section. If any of you are familiar with the anatomy and function of different parts of the brain, I welcome your comments as well.

I saw the link to this blog on the Facebook page of a mutual friend. I just spent the last hour reading every post on this blog and ended with this one at 4:17pm, and immediately started praying that Hyatt's surgery is successful. I am also praying that she is comfortable, and that she wake up very soon to be with her husband and two beautiful girls. i came to your site after my beloved sister-in-christ, WF, shared it with me. We are praying for the family during this difficult time...praying the valleys will become mountaintops. One day I want Hyatt to read this post and know she has so many extended family members crying her name out to our Lord who is in control...of the past, the present and He knows the future...His Glory is our strength.

I am anxiously awaiting the update from Hyatt's surgery. I have not stopped thinking of her and praying for her and the family since this terrible thing happened. I am so glad to see so many people; strangers, friends, acquaintances (such as myself), family and fellow mom's responding to the blog.
I hope that Troy, Hyatt and the girls can feel all of our love and prayers with them every day.

Thank you for taking over sending up dates to all of us who are not there in person. We are all praying and asking God for help and healing for Hyatt. As a family member we appreciate the ability to know how everyone is doing. By the way how is Jim's shoulder doing? We don't want to call on the phone since that is just adding stress. My name is Veronica and I am a friend of Hyatt's cousin Amanda who lives in Atlanta. She let us all know what was happening and shared this lovely blog so we could stay updated with her condition. Glory be to God that the last I spoke to Amanda things were in a different state then they are now. We have been in prayer and I have shared the prayer request with everyone I know who is filled with the Holy Ghost. Everytime I think of you and Hyatt the Holy Spirit puts this scripture on my heart.
-Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. (James 5:16)
The morning after Amanda told me about Hyatt I woke up with this scripture echoing in my ears. I have been hearing it since. I believe that Hyatt is being blanketed in God's word and prayer. What's so wonderful about this is that the Word of God is sharper then any two edged sword and more powerful then anything we see, hear, or feel. These are the times where are faith has to kick in and our rational minds have to take a time out.
I just want to join everyone here in encouraging you that you are taking a stand and setting such a wonderful example for your children to see and admire. It is a true blessing to have a family such as yours. That said I will leave you with these 2 scriptures that the Lord has pressed on my heart to share with you :)
-Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
