Early Prognosis -- Thursday morning

The Attending Physician laid it it out for us at a high level. They don't know what caused this, but currently there are three areas of concern: her heart, her lungs, and her brain. We don't know why her heart stopped. We know there appears to be significant damage to the lung material, but we don't know how extensive this is, or whether that tissue is beyond regeneration or not....but you need good lung tissue to be able to pass gaseous oxygen into the blood. As far as neurological damage, there really isn't any good way to tell while she's unconscious.

Bottom line: the first three days are critical to her survival. If she wakes up sometime wiothin three days, they can start addressing more issues. if she doesn't, then it's not a good sign.
