She's Gone

Our dear Friend, Daughter, Mother, Wife, passed away this evening. She died peacefully in Troy's arms and in the presence of her Mom and Dad. It has been a trying week for the family and friends who have stayed with Hyatt 24X7 since Monday.

We've been dreading this day for the last month. Hyatt will be missed terribly by many, but also celebrated as an amazing person.

Details about her funeral will be posted as soon as they become available.

Thank you all for your prayers,

Allen

Dear Troy and Family,
I spoke with Colleen this afternoon and she said it has been a tough week already. I am still in shock and can't believe this has all happened. Please know that I am still praying for you all and will continue always. Hyatt will always be my best friend in heart and soul as she is truely an angel now. I will always remember her laugh, smile, hugs and beautiful eyes. She is loved as much now as ever. I send you a big long hug Troy and know you are so blessed to have had Hyatt as your wife and mother of your children. I wish I could help you more through this but know you are in the best of hands! We love you very much. I hope to speak with you all again soon. With love and prayers,

Troy,

My heart broke when I read today's update, even though I have never formally met you or Hyatt.

There are so many feelings coursing through my soul, but I cannot grasp the words to express them. All I can say is that Hyatt has always been an angel, and now has her wings. Each and every one of us is a better person for having known (or known about) her; the earth is a brighter, healthier planet because of all she has done, and now heaven is even more beautiful with her there.

I will always be grateful for the way that you so openly shared Hyatt's story with all of us. She will forever hold a special place in my heart, and tonight I have said a special prayer for God to hold his newest Angel close to his heart.

Please don't be alarmed if you see a random young woman with two young kids around town one day, and she reaches out to give you a big, strong hug... it'll just be me, still without the words to express my feelings, but with a heart filled with love for what you and Hyatt shared, sorrow for what your girls will not be able to experience with her, and hope for a bright future filled with love, laughter, happiness... and many wonderful memories of Hyatt.

We love you all dearly.

Dear Family and Friends (especially ALL of the best friends!),
I received an email on 9/14 from Teams of Our Lady asking for prayers for Troy and Hyatt and I've been following this heartbreaking but beautiful love story ever since. My heart grieves with you all.

Several years ago, someone shared the following story when a young woman died too soon and I found comfort in the words. Perhaps you may, too:
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!" "Gone where?" Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!" there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: "Here she comes!" God Bless, God speed, Prayers to your family.

We pray that you will feel God's love and comfort at this time. And we pray for your little girls and your families.

We are so sorry for your loss, and so thankful that you were so lucky to have someone like Hyatt in your life. You and your girls are blessed. It may not seem like an easy time but you have been touched by an angel who will look after you all and take good care of you. It's so hard to understand why something like this happens, especially to someone as good as you and the girls, but God always has a plan, and even though you may feel weak, you will become stronger from this. We are all praying for you and your family. Even though your angel is physically gone, she will always be with you and the girls and God.

With much love, we are praying for you and your family and beautiful Hyatt.

Dear Troy,
I posted this message last night but it hasn't shown up...forgive me if it is a duplicate.
I wanted to share the verse that we used for my father-in-law's prayer cards. He passed three weeks ago yesterday and continued to ask me how Hyatt was doing while he was battling his cancer. He never met Hyatt in person but he attended Hyatt's prayer service and was so taken with your obvious love for Hyatt. I would like to think that he has welcomed Hyatt into Heaven.

God Saw
God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you, and whispered, "Come to Me." With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.

Dear Beka & Sid-

I now reralize this blog takes on a different meaning for you as it will now serve as a collection of memories of your mother's life. Because of this, I wanted to let you know what your mother meant to me. I am a friend of your mother's and father's who was able to spend time with your mother on a handful of occasions through the past 8 years. My hope is you will one day read this, understand it, and know the incredible effect one person can have on another.

We all are given many gifts from God, but some of us are special in that we truly realize it and truly embrace it. Your mother was one of those special people. To me, it appeared her greatest gift was her capacity to love. In the few times my wife and I spent with her and your father, it was obvious to me that she loved people, animals, nature, laughter, all God's creations (and especially your father). It seemed to me that she had the unique ability to see through all else and find love and beauty in all things. And she had the ability to make others feel it as well. I believe this allowed her to live a very full life, and though we tend to measure life by years, I prefer to meaure it by fullness. You two girls completed that fullness. You two are the gift your mother has left your father and all others who will see her light shine through you. I hope to see you one day as grown ups. And when I do, I know I will smile, and I suspect a tear of joy may come as well.

Your mother was a blessing to us all, and now she is an angel to watch over you, always.

God bless you both.

Troy-

I never knew you or Hyatt but for the last several months I have read your blog, looked at the pictures and prayed for your family. I am a mother of two young children and have a wonderful husband-- just like Hyatt did.
I, like you, may have taken that relationship for granted a few times along the way.
Not anymore.
Please know that you may never understand why God took Hyatt from you, her parents and the girls but do know that, in the process, you have brought others-- total strangers-- closer to the ones they love.
A day doesn't go by where there aren't a million kisses and hugs in our family, where "I love you" isn't a common saying.
Know that it is mostly because of what you shared, of you incredible love for your sweet wife, that has made a difference.
I-- along with so many who never met her-- mourn your incredible and unimaginable loss. May you someday find comfort that her loss may have saved the lives of others.
God Bless, Sarah

Dear Troy and Family,
I've dreaded the day that I might read this post. I had been praying so hard for a miracle, and hoped for a "She's Coming Home", instead of "She's Gone Home". Through all the tears and heartache, I've tried to hold onto the fact that, she was an angel to us here on Earth, but she got her promotion to wings. Heaven definitely got the better end of that deal. I can just visualize and hear the chorus of angels that will be even more beautiful with her voice added to it. Of course that doesn't keep me from wanting her here with us instead, back to her happy, healthy, and vibrant self. I will miss her terribly. And you will continue to be in my prayers as you find your place in this new reality.

To Sidney & Rebekah,
Everyone around you will continue to remind you throughout your life of what an amazing woman your mom was. And they're all true. To me, she was the best friend I could have ever hoped for (we were college roommates). I measured all other friendships against those with "my Hyatt." But she was truly special. We could talk about anything and everything, and boy, did we! We used to get on the phone and literally talk for 4-5 hours at the time (sometimes to Troy's chagrin, but he was a good sport about it : ), and yet, Hyatt & I never run out of things to share. Your mom used to tease me that we had to make multiple attempts to end our calls (sometimes starting an hour before we ever managed to hang up). And as unbelievable as it sounds between 2 women, I don't recall a single true argument/fuss between us. Everyone loved her. You couldn't meet Hyatt for more than 15 minutes and not love her.

I have so many wonderful, happy, funny memories with her. The most recent was about a year ago when she came to Atlanta, and I stayed with her at Nancy & Ron's house. Sidney, that's where I met you for the 1st time, and when I first learned (through a funny circumstance) that she was pregnant with you, Bekah. Oh, she loves you both so very much!!!

We spent almost a week together, and I couldn't tell you specifically about a single thing we talked about. But I do remember how much we talked and laughed together, and how wonderful it felt just to be around her again. Your mom had this indescribable "aura" about her that just drew people to her. She also had this incredible way with friends. It's become obvious to you through this blog that she had lots of "best friends". But the truly awesome thing about Hyatt was that when you were with her, you felt like you were "her bestest" friend in all the world too. She was greatly loved, and loved you two beyond measure. Please know that your mom had a positive impact on so very many people, an impact and a love that will continue in their hearts & lives forever.

Love,
Rhonda Rollins
a "bestest" friend in the Atlanta area : )

Words cannot adequately express the heartache I feel right now...

Thank you so much for the posts you have written over the past couple of months. It has been a blessing to those of us that are many miles away. More than that though has been the incredible witness you have been to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I subscribed to the blog and have read it as well as the comments on nearly a daily basis since the first post; the impact your frankness, your willingness to share your feelings, and your witness has made on so many lives is nothing less than astounding.

I recall Hyatt's voice so beautifully singing Love's Recovery..."How I wish I were a trinity, so if I lost a part of me, I'd still have two of the same to live..." Sid and Bekah are the beautiful fulfillment of a young mother's dream. Troy, her legacy is in good, strong hands. Our prayers are with you.

Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear,
just know that you are very close in every thought and prayer.

Troy, I thought you might find this song comforting at this time.

In case you can't pull up the link, it is on you tube, a song by Tim Hughes called "When Silence Falls" (it is the very first video/song that comes up when you search the title). I hope it brings you comfort. Continuing to pray for peace for you and your family that passes all understanding.

Dear Troy,

After her soul stepped out of its tired shell, I believe that Hyatt looked back at you with the most unbelievable love, gratitude, and joy.

She is free, and she will be with you, Sidney, and Bekah always.

Thank you for your testimony of marriage, love and faith and family you have shared with many thru these past few months. How amazing it is to think of Hyatt today ...healthy, happy, and complete and in the presence her Lord and Savior. I bet she is having a wonderful day on those streets of gold.
I wish you and your family lots of peace and love during this time.

My heart is breaking with sorrow for this terrible loss! I have been one of the many people who have never met Hyatt in person but felt incredibly connected to her and her family. In memory of her, I will be playing her beautiful songs today and I will give extra hugs to my husband and 2 children. From a distance I am embracing Troy, his girls and their entire family.
May Hyatt rest in peace as she is transitioning into Heaven!

I am so sad about this outcome for you and your family.

Although I met Hyatt only once before, she struck me as one of the nicest people I will ever know. As a BMAK member and neighbor, my heart goes out to you. I have prayed daily for Hyatt’s healing as well as healing for your entire family. Although that healing has not taken the specific form we all hoped for, I hope you can take comfort in knowing that Hyatt (the true part of herself which is linked to your own soul) is now free of earthly-suffering, at peace, and surely watching over you.

Thank you for sharing your insight, humanity, love and strength of faith throughout this ordeal. Hyatt, you and your family have inspired so many including myself to better appreciate what God has given us and trust in Him.

May He give you strength.

Dear Troy, Like so many others, I have never met you and you have never met me. I learned about Hyatt through a common friend. I have prayed for her and for your family from the beginning. I extend to you my deepest sympathy and hope that the love you have for Hyatt and the memories will keep you strong for you two beautiful daughters. You all will continue to remain in my prayers and I wish you peace.

Hyatt, I will miss you and regret we didn't cross paths again in our adult lives. You were one of those few people I would google for, to try and find you, tell each other what has happened in our lives, smile and laugh over old times. I will always remember you, I already did, 15 or so years since I last saw you.

To Troy, the girls, Hyatt's mom (who I still remember fondly), and all friends and family, know you are in so many thoughts and prayers.

I do not personally know you either and I cannot even recall how I became aware of your story. I have thought so much of Hyatt and her precious girls and Troy, your admonitions to hug those you love and to not waste another minute have echoed throughout my heart.

May God help to heal the hole left in the absence of your loving partner. I am so very sorry.

Blessings to you all,

To the Nolan family,

I was away until yesterday and just heard the sad news. I am so very sorry for your loss of Hyatt.

I am still amazed at Troy's ability, and strength, to put his thoughts into words for all of us to follow.

My thoughts and prayers are still with all of you and for Hyatt.

May God bless you all.

Dear Troy and family,

I've never met you or Hyatt either, but through your blog have come to learn about this amazing woman. How blessed you guys were to have her in your lives. I pray that you can find peace and comfort during this time of mourning and that your little girls will grow up to know what an amazing mom she was and how she'll be always watching over them.

God bless you and your family.

Troy,
I too have never met your amazing family but have been praying for you constantly since I heard about Hyatt thru my daughter. My own Mother died on Dec. 4th and on that day I was driving and thinking about Hyatt and praying for her. I asked Mom to please be with this wonderful Mother who was going to heaven soon. When I got home I checked the Blog and Hyatt was gone. It made me feel good that so many wonderful people were there to meet her in heaven. Mom was taken at 64 very suddenly, I'm sure that she felt her job on earth with her 7 children was not done and was not very happy. She has been with me in some way each and every day since. Your girls will feel her presence and know how much she loved you all. You are an amazing man and Hyatt was lucky to have you as a husband and the father of her children. A friend of mine wrote to me after losing Mom and said, "Don't cry and be sad that it is over, Smile and be glad that she Happened". I am and those words have helped me even today 23 years later. God's Peace be with your entire amazing family. You are still one very lucky man. I'll continue to follow the blog and pray for your family.
